With the appointment of Dame Pat McGrath DBE as Creative Director of Cosmetics at Louis Vuitton in March, the fashion house’s foray into beauty seemed like a likely next step.
As a result, La Beauté Louis Vuitton has been eagerly awaited by beauty buffs and Louis Vuitton devotees alike (and pretty much everyone in between). Surely, we would get makeup to-die-for with such an impressive makeup visionary as McGrath at the helm…
And makeup to cherish we did.
The collection is not available to buy yet... But happily today, we are getting a sneak peek into La Beauté Louis Vuitton.
Spoiler alert, it’s amazing.
The official worldwide launch for the beauty collection of luxe lipsticks, lip balms and eyeshadow palettes is on 29th August, but the good news for those of us who can’t wait (ahem, the entire Marie Claire team) is that pre-orders open on the 25th August, where we can snap up our wishlist at louisvuitton.
The new collection, crafted “with the meticulousness of couture”, comes with some very exciting pieces.
The beating heart is LV Rouge – a heavenly lipstick collection that spans 55 shades that includes both matte and satin finishes. Each shade has been carefully crafted and selected by McGrath herself.
“Luxury in makeup is about performance, craftsmanship and sensorality,” says McGrath. “It’s about textures that feel exquisite, colours that captivate, and formulas that perform flawlessly.”

If you want to invest, a first buy might be the burnished red of Monogram Rouge, a satin shade that offers up a red that feels at once timelessly classic and impeccably modern.
Rose Odyssee, meanwhile is a matte textured lipstick in an earthy-toned rose. The flattering shade would work very well to take you from the office to dinner.
If you want something sheer and easy-breezy to wear on your lips, the ten shades of LV Baumes should be your next obsession. Deeply hydrating and comfortable, these elevated lip balms add a good dose of luxury to your every day.
Looking for a standout? It could be Tendre Bliss, which suits just about any lip by adding a luxury dusting of sparkle.
Also in this first launch from the house is LV Ombres. A collection of eight heavenly packaged eye palettes – each with four shades – McGrath offers us up almost limitless possibilities.
“The eye shadows really set the tone for La Beauté Louis Vuitton,” explains McGrath. “They are bold, intentional and built to be remembered.”
Each is built to be highly wearable, with a standout shade to be incorporated when you’re feeling daring. Case in point, Harmonie 150 Beige Momento, which is inspired by the patina of Louis Vuitton’s famed LLV leather, is a trio of highly golden bronze pared with a rich and daring ivory.
