Another day, another engagement – and ring – to add to our future wedding moodboard. This time, the inspiration comes from Princess Diana’s niece, Lady Eliza Spencer, whose recent betrothal to longterm love, Channing Millerd, has only deepened our obsession with unconventional carats.
Eliza, who is the daughter of Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer and his first wife, Victoria Lockwood, is the third of her siblings to walk down the aisle. Now, after watching her sisters marry – including twin Lady Amelia Spencer, who wed in 2023, and older sister Lady Kitty Spencer, who married Michael Lewis in a Roman ceremony in 2021, it’s finally Lady Eliza’s turn.
And after nine years together, and a slew of royal weddings to take inspiration from, we’re certain it’s a day she and her partner have been planning for quite some time. In fact, in a recent shoot with Hello! magazine, the newly-engaged couple told us so.
“Marriage is definitely something we’ve talked about,” Lady Eliza told the publication in March. “We have such a strong, loving and supportive relationship,” she said, before adding. “He truly is my best friend. We understand each other so well, and no matter what life brings, we’re always there for one another. I absolutely believe he’s The One.”

Taking to Instagram to share the exciting update with her followers, Lady Eliza Spencer shared a series of candid snaps of her and her partner of nine-years in the romantic Santorini setting.
Captioning the carousel with a simple “Forever and Ever,” the bride-to-be looked positively overcome with emotion. But while well-wishers flocked to the comment section to share their felicitations, it was the sparkling engagement ring glistening through the screen that captured our attention.
Lady Eliza Spencer’s Engagement Ring

The unique engagement ring features a pear-shaped diamond surrounded by a delicate pavé halo.
A timeless choice that, according to Katherine Denton of KDJ, is indicative of the growing ring trend away from oval cuts and into a “new era of solitaires, including pears, marquise and cushion-cut gems.”
“I think we’re going to see a big shift toward more antique-style diamond cuts like pears, marquise (thank you Selena), and cushion cuts,” Denton tells us.
“Brides are still drawn to a modern feel for their engagement rings, but they’re looking for something with a touch of old-world charm—something they can imagine passing down one day.”
According to jewellery expert Nilesh Rakholia, Lady Eliza’s ring is certainly worthy of such treatment. Speaking with Hello! after news of the engagement first made headlines, he estimated its value to be worth somewhere between 20-50,000 pounds.
“This price range is broad because the final valuation is heavily dependent on the diamond’s specific ‘4 Cs’ – carat weight, cut, colour and clarity,” he told the publication. Adding that the ring in question was “one of exceptional quality and timeless style.”
Of course, we’d expect nothing less from the niece of the late Princess Diana, whose own enviable jewellery collection continues to live on through both Princess Catherine and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
