It’s not often that a celebrity is able to fly under the radar in the marie claire office, much less one that’s 6’4″ and the lead in this season’s biggest cinematic release. So when Superman’s David Corenswet came across our feeds – and our collective consciousness – it caused somewhat of a stir.
Whether you’re a comic book superfan or just a general purveyor of the arts, it’s impossible to scroll through your algorithm right now without being inundated by scenes from the film’s delightfully playful press tour featuring the Man of Steel himself, a blonde Nicholas Hoult and (current cover star) Rachel Brosnahan.
Such is the fervor created by its endearing and undeniably buzzy social strategy, that even the most hardcore Cavill (Henry, obvs) converts are coming around to the Superman reboot show. Still need convincing? Consider this Gossip Girl reenactment or even this stunning situation as your TLDR call to Corenswet action – just don’t say we didn’t warn you.
But how exactly did a relatively unknown actor score Hollywood’s biggest gig? Keep scrolling for everything there is to know about the man who’s just made it to the top of our Internet Boyfriend best-of: David Corenswet.
What Has David Corenswet Been In?

Unless you’ve followed the 32-year-old American actor on Instagram over the years – along with the other 900,000 people who do – then you could be forgiven for thinking the star of Superman is a relative unknown. And to be fair, you’d be right – at least by Hollywood blockbuster standards. But while he’s not exactly a household name in the world of celebrity, the actor isn’t a newcomer either.
Growing up in small town Pennsylvania (how very Clark Kent of him), he developed a love for acting at a young age, starring in range of local projects before making the move to the big city.
Since graduating from esteemed performing arts school, Juilliard, in 2016, Corenswet has appeared in series such as House of Cards and Elementary and Lady in the Lake (2024), as well as multiple Ryan Murphy Netflix projects like The Politician (2019-2020) and Hollywood (2020).
On the silver screen, Corenswet counts Affairs of State (2018), Pearl (2022) and Look Both Ways (2022) – a Netflix romcom co-starring Lili Reinhart – as some of his more notable roles.
Most recently, he saddled up alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell as the smug tech wiz trying to turn tornado data into a money-making tool for his company’s villainous backer in Twisters.
Although the decision to forgo a more “bankable” star wasn’t lost on Superman director James Gunn, as it turns out, it was this exact trait that helped secure his breakthrough role as our newest Man of Steel.
“I couldn’t go for someone that didn’t work. I couldn’t go for someone that had the look, but didn’t have the chops. I couldn’t go for someone that had the chops but didn’t have the look. I couldn’t go for someone that had the looks and the chops, but couldn’t do the comedic parts, or couldn’t do the more vulnerable aspects,” Gunn told GQ of the casting process.
“The easy part is, he looks like Superman,” Gunn said of Corenswet. “But the fact that David is a theater kid that’s so athletic is even weirder. I don’t know if anybody I’ve worked with before would’ve been able to do this stuff, besides maybe Chris Pratt.”
How Tall Is David Corenswet?

The internet asked and we felt compelled to answer. So before you go through the trouble of googling “Is David Corenswet Taller Than Henry Cavill?” – the answer is yes, yes he is.
Confirming the news in an interview with GQ where he spoke about the process of costume fitting, David Corenswet revealed that he is indeed 6’4″. And as anyone with a vested interest in Romantasy Fiction will tell you – there is a difference between 6’2″ (sorry Henry) and 6’4″, just in case you were wondering.
Does David Corenswet Have A Wife?

Superman actor David Corenswet is married to his wife, fellow actor, Julia Best Warner.
According to an interview with People in June 2025, the couple first met as teenagers at a Pennsylvania summer theater program.
Following what Corenswet recalled as a “slow-burn” romance, they were married March 2023.
In 2024, right about the time Corenswet began filming for Superman, they welcomed their first child – a daughter.
In his interview with People, Corenswet spoke about his experience of fatherhood so far. “I feel like I’ve been a dad for a long time, and just waiting for a kid to prove it. My dad was an enthusiastic father and stayed home with my sister for a period when she was very little, and was very good with kids. And so I think I just inherited that. I liked being a camp counselor, and I have terrible jokes that nobody laughs at.”
